Institute Overview
The MOLSAMP Summer Sophomore STEM Institute is an intensive academic and student-success summer immersion program designed to assist underrepresented minority (URM) STEM students with transitioning to their sophomore year of study at a college or university.
Institute Purpose
The MOLSAMP Summer Sophomore STEM Institute aims to Level Up students for sophomore year by providing participants:
- tools that aid students in successfully completing the sophomore year
- tools for navigating campus resources
- skills for developing a graduation plan
- skills for writing great papers
- pathways for securing undergraduate research projects
- pathways for securing a STEM related internship
- opportunities to visit STEM companies
- information about building and designing an impactful resume
How the Institute Works
The MOLSAMP Summer Sophomore STEM Institute is a weeklong residential program (July 28 – August 4, 2019) funded through a National Science Foundation LSAMP grant. The 2019 Institute will take place in St. Louis, Missouri on the campus of Harris–Stowe State University. Participants will receive lodging, meals, and funding for transportation to and from the Institute. In addition, students will earn a certificate of completion and a $1,000 stipend. The Institute will consist of 25 URM STEM students selected from MOLSAMP Institutions listed below.
