Sarah Uphoff

Sarah Uphoff comes to the Harris-Stowe State University team from Texas State University where she was an Assistant Director for Residence Life.  With over fifteen years of experience in Student Affairs, Ms. Uphoff joins the team as the Assistant Dean of Student Students, Director of Residence Life and Student Conduct.  Ms. Uphoff is currently completing her PH.D. in Adult, Professional and Community Education from Texas State University.  She has an incredible passion for education, student development, community development and Social Justice advocacy.  Ms. Uphoff is excited to return home to St. Louis as a Harris-Stowe Hornet. Outside of work, Ms. Uphoff is blessed to be a wife, as well as, a mother to her incredible 16 year old son.  Some of her outside interests include working with arts-based community education programs, participating in Spoken Word poetry, and spending time with family.

Eboni Thompson

 Student Engagement Coordinator

Eboni Thompson is the recent addition to the Office of Student Engagement. Prior to Eboni’s arrival to HSSU, she worked in Program Development for several non-profit agencies serving the St. Louis Metropolitan area.  Her responsibilities included developing and implementing programs that aligned with the State of Missouri policies used to serve the community. Eboni promotes community advancement and involvement as she serves as past Vice President of Administration of Urban League Young Professionals, member of Women of Ambition, and Toastmasters International. As a former first generation college student, Eboni knows and understands the challenges facing college students today. She plans to utilize her position to cultivate an environment to increase student participation and encourage student engagement on HSSU campus.

Ariel Broussard

Residential Life Coordinator, Bosley Hall

Ariel Broussard joins the HSSU family from Jacksonville, Florida. Ms. Broussard joins our staff as the Residential Life Coordinator for Bosley Hall. A recent HBCU graduate from Bethune-Cookman University, Ms. Broussard brings passion, structure, and exhilarating energy to her current position. Ms. Broussard is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Higher Education Student Personnel from the University of Mississippi. For leisure, Ms. Broussard likes to volunteer at local community outreach programs. Her favorite quote is "you have not lived today if you have not done something for someone who cannot repay you.”

Virgil Pearson

Residential Hall Coordinator, Gillespie Hall

Virgil Pearson comes to Harris- Stowe State University with 5 years of relevant experience in student affairs. Prior to Mr. Pearson arrival to HSSU, he worked in the Department of Residential Life at Lincoln University. His experience includes Student Engagement, Student Leadership Training, Student Orientation, First-Year Experience, Living Learning Communities, Student Conduct, Residential Life and Student Development. Mr. Pearson is very passionate about working with students and strive every day to challenge students to think outside of the box, and changes lives leading by example with a servant leadership approach. Outside of work Mr. Pearson serves the St. Louis Metropolitan Community with his church and loves spending time with family and friends.
