About the Center for Neighborhood Affairs

The Center for Neighborhood Affairs (CNA) is an institute affiliated with the Urban Affairs program at Harris-Stowe State University. CNA Students, faculty, and associated professionals provide a variety of professional services to under-served communities throughout metropolitan St. Louis.

The purpose of the center is use the expertise and resources of the Center and the Urban Affairs program to support the efforts of community-based groups to revitalize challenged St. Louis neighborhoods through “service-learning.” Working on “real life” community-based projects, Harris-Stowe students not only acquire a stronger professional preparation in a range of urban specializations, they make a real difference in their communities.

As a public Historically Black College or University (HBCU), Harris-Stowe State University takes its role in the community very seriously and is committed to helping transform distressed St. Louis neighborhoods into strong, vital, and sustainable communities.
