Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. State Celebration Commission's 2015 Calendar of Events

Special programs and events honoring Dr. King and his dream have blossomed from just a few dozen communities in 1986 to hundreds in every geographical area of the state. The Commission continues to reach out in efforts to ensure the participation of all areas, as many communities and individuals as possible in the State Celebration; including churches, synagogues, schools, universities, nursing homes, professional and civic organizations, government agencies, libraries and post offices. Essay and art contests are encouraged to motivate statewide youth participation and are presented to recipients in the categories of Individual, Organization, Youth, Corporate/Business and Government, who exemplify the attributes associated with the program theme.
