I’m Dr. Albert Walker, President of Harris-Stowe State University.
As a former captain in the US Army, I can say that the values and dedication needed to serve in the armed forces are equally important when pursuing a college degree. At HSSU, we strive to provide veterans and active-duty military personnel with extraordinary college experiences.
Perhaps you are a combat veteran who was a Missouri resident when you entered the military and wish to take advantage of the Returning Heroes Act, which allows you to take courses leading to an HSSU degree for $50 per credit hour. Or maybe you are utilizing your Montgomery GI Bill for active duty or reserve personnel, REAP, the Vocational Rehabilitation Program, Survivors and Dependents Educational Assistance Program, or the Post 9/11 GI Bill to pay for college.
Today, we are specifically looking for military personnel to enroll at HSSU because we know that your experiences and commitment are unparalleled and will enhance the campus that you choose to attend.
I would like to personally invite you to contact a member of the President’s Office, Ms. Lea Sutherlin (a veteran herself) and just talk a little about what you are seeking in a college or university. You have provided a great service to your country, let us have the opportunity to provide a great service to you!
