Harris-Stowe State University Leadership Award
Harris-Stowe State University, through the Office of Admissions, awards a limited number of leadership awards to first-time freshmen and incoming transfer students. These awards may cover six to 12 in-state credit hour fees and admission fees. To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must be eligible for full-time admission to the University and complete a leadership award application. In addition, first-time freshmen and incoming transfer students with less than 24 credit hours must have completed the high school core curriculum as specified by the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education. If funds are available, a recipient who remains continuously enrolled may apply to renew this award each semester until he or she has completed the number of credit hours required by his or her degree program, provided the recipient maintains a minimum 2.5 CGPA, continues to make satisfactory academic progress and continues to provide documentation of leadership in extracurricular/community activities.
Harris-Stowe State University Incentive for Excellence Scholarship
The Harris-Stowe State University Office of Admissions awards a limited number of full scholarships to incoming freshmen and transfer students. Recipients enrolled in six to 16 credit hours will have 100 percent of their in-state tuition and admission fees paid. If funds are available, a recipient may be eligible for renewal of the scholarship each continuous semester of enrollment, provided the recipient maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and continues to make unconditionally satisfactory academic progress. To be eligible, first-time freshmen applicants must meet the following academic requirements: ACT score of 21-22/minimum and 3.5 CGPA, ACT score 23-24/minimum and 3.0 CGPA or ACT score of 25 or higher/minimum and 2.5 CGPA. Transfer applicants must transfer a minimum of 30 college level credit hours with a transfer GPA of 3.0. Apply directly to the Office of Admissions, who makes awards subject to final compliance and budgetary approval by the HSSU Scholarship Committee.
Harris-Stowe State University Academic Performance Award
Harris-Stowe State University Office of Admissions awards a limited number of academic performance awards to first-time freshmen and incoming transfer students. This award is valued at up to eight in-state credit hours of tuition. For consideration, the first-time freshmen applicants must have an overall cumulative GPA of at least a 2.75 and an ACT of at least 21, or SAT of at least 990. Transfer applicants must transfer a minimum of 30 college level credit hours with a transfer GPA of 2.75. If funds are available, a recipient may be eligible for renewal of the award each continuous semester of enrollment, provided the recipient maintains a session GPA of 2.75 or higher and continues to make unconditionally satisfactory academic progress.
Jason Anthony Veal Scholarship Fund
The Jason Anthony Veal Scholarship Fund has been established in memory of Jason A. Veal, who was a high school student at Roosevelt High School. To be eligible for this annual scholarship of $1,250, the recipient must be a graduate of Cleveland ROTC High School or Roosevelt High School, must be admitted as a first-time freshman at Harris-Stowe State University, must have the expressed intention of majoring in Teacher Education or Business Administration, must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per semester, must have a cumulative GPA 2.5 and must demonstrate service to the community.
Des Lee Foundation Scholarship
Des Lee Foundation Scholarship is for a first-time freshman, who has the expressed intention of majoring in Business Administration or related field. To be eligible for this $1,500 scholarship, the recipient must graduate in the upper 25 percent of his/her high school class and have an ACT of 20 or higher or the equivalent of the two. The scholarship is to cover tuition, fees and books, if possible. If funds are available, a student can receive the scholarship for two semesters as long as a CGPA of 3.0 is maintained and the student makes satisfactory academic progress.
Fox Family Foundation Scholarship
Fox Family Foundation Scholarship is for a first-time freshman who has the expressed intention of majoring in Business Administration or related field. To be eligible for this $1,500 (per semester) scholarship, the recipient must graduate in the upper 25 percent of his or her high school class and have an ACT score of 20 or higher, or an equivalent of the two.
Midwest Regeneration Award
This award is awarded annually to full-time students who are residents of the neighboring states of Missouri (Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Tennessee) and reside on-campus. The award is valued at the difference between in- and out-of-state tuition for up to 16 credit hours. Recipients must be U.S. citizens, reside on-campus and maintain a 2.75 or better session GPA for renewal. To qualify as a first-time freshman, a student must have earned a final high school GPA of a 2.5 or better and earned a minimum of a 21 composite on the ACT, or received a score of 18 or higher in the subsections of Reading and English, as well as a score of 22 or higher in the subsection of Mathematics. To qualify as a transfer student a student must have earned a final transfer GPA of 2.75 or better. This transfer GPA is inclusive of all colleges previously attended.
The Hornet Rate
The Hornet Rate will be awarded to first-time full-time freshmen who are U.S. Citizens from select counties in Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska and admitted to Harris-Stowe State University beginning fall 2014. Students that qualify for the Hornet rate will be eligible to pay the equivalent of in-state tuition. Students who qualify for the Hornet Rate must be a first-time full-time freshman that meets the freshmen admissions requirements, resides on-campus, and is a U.S. citizen.
