Leopoldo Yoshinari Alves Moreira, a senior majoring in Information Sciences and Computer Technology at Harris-Stowe State University, represented the school at the 2015 HBCU-Innovation Summit held in Silicon Valley, Nov. 18-21. Sponsored by the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), the second annual conference is igniting a national movement to drive innovation, entrepreneurship and access for students of color in the technology and science fields.

Dr. Joyce Eisel, faculty and chair of Health Care Management at Harris-Stowe State University’s Anheuser-Busch School of Business, was presented with a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Commendation in recognition of her contributions to the Heartland Regional Health Equity Council and the implementation of the National Partnership for Action to End Health Disparities.
Hornet Nation Recognizes Gabrielle Pouncil
Gabrielle Pouncil is a senior biology/pre-medicine major who has a passion for animals. When Assistant Professor of Biology Dr. Anbreen Bashir mentioned an internship with the St. Louis Zoo, she was enthusiastic about the chance to interact with all types of animals. During her 10-week employment, she’s had an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the medical attention, extensive research and hands-on care for animals that goes on behind the scenes at the zoo.
